About

I am a Library Science graduate student at the University of North Texas and this blog was created for my Children’s Lit class (SLIS 5420). Each week I will read two children’s books and explain what they are about, give a couple review, and offer a suggestion of how the book could be used in a library. I’m excited to read these books, and I’m going to make an effort to choose books I didn’t read as a child.

I chose the blog title based on a quote from Malcolm X’s autobiography: “I have often reflected upon the new vistas that reading opened to me. I knew right there in prison that reading had changed forever the course of my life. As I see it today, the ability to read awoke in me some long dormant craving to be mentally alive.”
